Our company was founded in 1952 by Juan Morales Galán and is currently run by his son, José Luis Morales Peña. Dating back more than 65 years, ARTESANÍA MORALES stands out for its long-running experience in the marketing, production and sale of high-quality gift items and handicrafts. The company is a benchmark in Toledo for the quality of its products, its customised service and the detailed information offered to its customers.

ARTESANÍA MORALES is conveniently located in the heart of the historic centre of Toledo, a city declared a World Heritage Site in 1986. Its main retail outlet is located at Plaza del Conde, 3, in Toledo, opposite the famous Church of Santo Tomé, where the masterpiece by El Greco, “The Burial of the Count of Orgaz”, is displayed.

Another establishment can be found nearby, located at Calle de Santo Tomé, 18, one of the most beautiful streets in Toledo.

HANDCRAFTED PERIOD SWORDS

It is said that in medieval times the best steel swords were made in Toledo. This product came to be known as Toledo steel. It grew so popular that the city gradually became famous for its swords. Today, they are used for decorative purposes, by film characters, in fencing, and so on.

The authentic masterpiece of the last remaining master swordsmith in the history of Toledo, Antonio Arellano, can be found at our main shop in an exclusive space devoted to the display of all his hand-worked swords.

Since 2008, we have been marketing and offering our customers our FLAGSHIP product: Damascus steel knives, handcrafted with 67 steel layers and handles made of wood, deer antler, buffalo horn, mother of pearl, abalone, and more.

What is damascene?

Toledo damascene, popularly known as ‘Toledo gold’, is work done by hand or machine to inlay 24-carat gold or silver on steel. Following the Arab tradition, Toledo continues to create its most popular handicraft, the art of damascen.

At ARTESANÍA MORALES, most of our products are made entirely by hand by the distinguished artisans currently working in our workshops. One of the most important masters that Toledo has ever known, Miguel Nombela, worked exclusively for us for 44 years. His work keeps his memory fresh and his pieces are available at our establishments.
